District Cabinet Roles & Responsibilities

District Governor
The district governor is the chief representative of Lions International in their district, leading membership growth, new club development and club retention. They oversee the Global Action Team, guide district goals and promote leadership and skills training. In addition to making sure that clubs follow association guidelines and remain in good standing, they also lead key meetings and conventions, foster teamwork across the district and provide service and support to Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) initiatives.

1st Vice District Governor
The First Vice District Governor serves as a key leader within the district, supporting the District Governor while preparing to serve as the future District Governor. Their responsibilities include promoting membership growth, strengthening clubs, encouraging leadership development, supporting service initiatives, and assisting with district operations and goals. The First Vice District Governor works closely with clubs and district leaders to help ensure a strong, active, and successful district.

2nd Vice District Governor
The Second Vice District Governor supports the District Governor and First Vice District Governor while preparing for future district leadership responsibilities. Their role often focuses on membership growth, leadership development, club support, and strengthening service activities throughout the district. The Second Vice District Governor works closely with clubs and district leaders to encourage teamwork, promote Lions programs, and help ensure the continued success and growth of the district.

Past District Governor
Past District Governors serve as experienced leaders and mentors within Lions, offering guidance, knowledge, and support to district and club leaders. Their responsibilities often include assisting with leadership development, supporting district projects and events, encouraging membership growth and service activities, and sharing their experience to help strengthen clubs and the district as a whole. Past District Governors play an important role in preserving continuity, promoting teamwork, and supporting the future success of Lions service.

Cabinet Secretary
The Cabinet Secretary plays a key administrative role within the district by assisting the District Governor and Cabinet with communication, records, and organization. Responsibilities often include preparing meeting agendas and minutes, maintaining district records, handling correspondence, assisting with reports, and helping ensure important information is shared with clubs and district leaders in a timely manner. The Cabinet Secretary helps keep district operations organized, accurate, and running smoothly.

Cabinet Treasurer
The Cabinet Treasurer is responsible for managing and overseeing the district’s finances with accuracy, transparency, and accountability. Responsibilities include maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, assisting with budgets, handling district funds and payments, and helping ensure bills and obligations are paid on time. The Cabinet Treasurer works closely with the District Governor and Cabinet to support sound financial practices and help keep the district operating smoothly and responsibly.

Guiding Lions
A Guiding Lion helps new Lions clubs build a strong foundation for long-term success. Through mentorship, encouragement, training, and leadership support, they guide clubs from chartering through growth—helping members create meaningful service and lasting impact in their communities.

Region Chair
Regional Chairpersons serve as important leaders within the district by supporting clubs, encouraging communication, and helping strengthen Lions activities across their assigned region. Their responsibilities often include assisting clubs with membership growth, leadership development, service projects, and problem-solving while serving as a connection between the District leadership team and local clubs. Regional Chairpersons help promote teamwork, support club success, and encourage strong, active Lions clubs throughout the region.

Zone Chair
Zone Chairpersons serve as key leaders within the district by supporting and guiding the clubs within their assigned zone. Their responsibilities include encouraging communication between clubs and district leadership, promoting membership growth and service activities, assisting clubs with challenges or needs, and leading zone meetings that encourage collaboration and idea sharing. Zone Chairpersons help strengthen clubs, build connections, and support the overall success of the district.

Global Action Team
The Global Action Team (GAT) works to strengthen Lions clubs and districts through leadership development, membership growth, and impactful service. Made up of leaders focused on Leadership, Membership, and Service, the GAT helps support clubs by providing training, resources, guidance, and encouragement to help Lions better serve their communities. The Global Action Team promotes collaboration, growth, and innovation to help ensure the future success of Lions Clubs International.

Global Extension Team
The Global Extension Team (GET) focuses on growing Lions Clubs International by helping create new clubs and supporting membership growth opportunities within existing clubs. The GET works to identify new communities for service, encourage innovative club models, and help expand the reach and impact of Lions through growth, leadership, and community engagement.

Global Leadership Team
The Global Leadership Team (GLT) focuses on developing strong Lions leaders at every level of the organization. The GLT provides training, mentoring, and leadership development opportunities to help members grow their skills, strengthen clubs, and prepare future leaders for service within Lions Clubs International. By encouraging learning and leadership growth, the GLT helps build stronger clubs, districts, and communities.

Global Service Team
The Global Service Team (GST) focuses on strengthening and expanding Lions service activities within clubs and districts. The GST encourages meaningful community service, helps clubs identify local needs, promotes participation in Lions’ global causes, and supports reporting and sharing service impact. By inspiring hands-on service and community involvement, the GST helps Lions make a greater difference locally and around the world.

Global Membership Team
The Global Membership Team (GMT) focuses on strengthening Lions clubs through membership growth, retention, and engagement. The GMT helps clubs attract new members, support existing members, and create positive club experiences that encourage long-term involvement. By promoting healthy club growth and member satisfaction, the GMT helps ensure Lions Clubs International continues to grow and serve communities effectively.

District LCIF Coordinator
The District LCIF Coordinator serves as a liaison between the district and the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), helping promote awareness, support, and participation in LCIF programs and humanitarian efforts. Their responsibilities include educating clubs about LCIF grants and initiatives, encouraging donations and fundraising efforts, sharing the impact of LCIF worldwide, and helping clubs understand how LCIF supports disaster relief, vision programs, youth initiatives, humanitarian projects, and more. The District LCIF Coordinator helps strengthen Lions’ global impact through service and giving.
